Rwanda
Global Strategic Alliance began its work in Rwanda by helping a Rwandan student and his brother build and fund the Umuryango Children's Home (www.umuryango.org), which cares for children orphaned by the genocide of 1994. Work continues and has expanded to include plans to build a facility for AIDS infants, education and training programs, and the piping of clean water into the village of Bukumero. Already the village has received access to electricity for the first time.
The Umuryango Children's Home was founded by brothers Jean Paul and Jean Pierre Kayinamura, who have used family lands to establish an aid compound in the prefature of Gitarama. This project has spawned additional work in Rwanda.
